Belly button question

From: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)

Ok, this may be a really stupid question, but here goes: How many times can a Dr use your belly button as an entrance point for a Lap?? Mine has been used twice for laps, and it is fairly hard now, almost to the point of being herniated. The last surgery I got a staph infection there that took 3 months to clear up, so it's a veryugly scar. What happens when you can't use the belly button anymore? Do they just make holes wherever instead?

Thanks,
