Re: Can't shake the endo symptoms.From: anonymous@obgyn.net,Mon Jan 5 11:55:53 2004
Jamie, I am 32, with stage 3 endo and know exactly what you are talking about. I have had two laps, one course of Lupron, now am on continuous birth control, and probably having a total hysto sometime this year. (I have tried it all and nothing works for long, so I now have to decide if I want to just go for a hysto and hope for the best). Right now with the continuous birth control, my pain comes and goes. I am in pain more often than not though. I get lots of burning pain, especially on the right side, and also get sharp, stabbing pains that radiate down my legs and sometimes make my knees buckle. I am also constantly fatigued, even after a full night's sleep. I always have to take power naps on the weekends. Unfortunately, it all seems to just be life with endo. A couple ideas though, that work well for me: Anti-inflammatory for the pain (Like Advil-I eat them 3-4 at a time and this usually takes most of the edge off the pain), and a heating pad when I am home. For during the day at work, I use the Therma Care heat wraps for menstrual cramp relief. These are great because they stay hot for 8 hours, and it is like wearing a heating pad. I also find that if I take one Tylenol PM or half of a Sominex before bed that it knocks me out just enough that I usually sleep pretty good, without the hangover feeling the next morning. That helps a little with the fatigue but I could still sleep 15 hours a day and be tired. Maybe some of these suggestions will help you too. Basically, it is all just part of the "fun" of having endo. Hope it helps to at least know you are not alone. Hugs! Feel free to email me direct if you ever want to chat. Amy Meyer
