two years of total chaosFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jan 2 07:33:46 2004
Hi this is my second time posting but i am a dedicated reader. My story begins two years ago when going to the hospital for what i thought may be appendicitis ,i was taken for a scan and was told a surgeon was being called in due to internal bleeding...though they were unsure where it came from. After following up with the surgeon I was told to see my gyn,i did and after two emergency d&c`s,and a biospy i was told that a hysterectomy would be in order. My husand and I were shocked I was only 30 luckily i have one daughter. In the hospital my doctor and i decided not to take the ovaries, premature meopause sounded too scary even though he told me i could be back in 1 year or 10.After recovering from the hysterectomy I began to have pain again approx. 8 months later however I think it was there and I was scared to deal with it,I again saw my gyn who now decided to remove the ovaries, after I saw the GI. dr. who was giving a second opinion as well as a colonoscopy to rule out anything else. 1 year and two weeks after my hyster the ovaries came out and they were covered with endometriosis go figure, and the night sweats, shakes and mood swings came on full force. My husband was glad he figured this was over and his wife would be "normal again",or would she. Three months later I had terrible pain in my right lower abdoman I went to the gyn who sent me for a scan and made an appointment for me to see a general surgeon. The scan showed a kidney stone only. I followed up with the general surgeon the next day who told me he would normally remove the appendix but in this case he wanted me to go back to the G.I. dr...who confirmed that the appendectomy was appropriate. On my follow up with the surgeon I told him I had a suspicion it was my endometriosis,he just smiled and told his nurse to schedule me and to also have my gyn there to help. I had a follow up with my surgeon who told me to read my pathology report Diagnosis: Endometriosis of the appendix as well as an inflamed appendix...I smiled not because I was happy but because he said I am glad i listened to you,I had a follow up with my gyn a week ago who told me this was shocking as well as he is concerned about the progression of the disease and that I need to see him in two weeks to discuss some things...that is on Monday I am a bit worried. However my point is to not take no for an answer be involved, only you know what your body is feeling. As for me I am still having pain and will discuss this with my Dr. on Monday.
