Hot flashes not related to menopauseFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Nov 28 15:52:04 2003
I am trying to figure out what is going on with me. I am only 26 and have been having this horrible hot flashes and excessive sweating for a year now. I went to doctor at least 10 times to complain about this, but nobody seemed to know what was going on. I had blood work done but everything seemed to be O.K. The hot flashes seem to start as a reaction to heat, especially when I go from outside inside. They are like intervals of extreme heat; I start to sweat all over. My forhead is covered with sweat, my shirt, my socks and underwear are all soaked. This goes on for about 10 minutes....goes away....but comes back in few minutes. After this passes, I start to get chills. This has been a horrible nightmare for me...I don't know, why is this happing. I have always been very active and never overweight. I tried to go off the pill (Ortho Tricyclen) for some time, but that didn't help. I just want to know, if there is someone else out there having same problem. I am worried about underlying cause. I had some crazy tests done (AIDS, Thyroid) to eliminate the cause. They all came negative. Please, someone, HELP!
