Any type of NSAID (anti-inflammatory) works well. I use Advil 600-800 mg. Of course, you have to be careful of stomach irritation with that. I have tried Vioxx, which I think works pretty good. I have to say though, it gets to a point where pain reliever alone does not take care of the pain and alternative remedies have to be added in conjunction with the medication. I find keeping the medication in my system (taking it regularly) helps also. I have a Merena IUS and I think that the constant low-dose progesterone in that helps somewhat. It is really a trial-and-error process for each person to find what works best for them.

If your doctor writes a statement that you need the Bextra because of sensitive stomach, insurance should cover it.
