Re: Can an Abortion cause Endometriosis

Sarah, I have never had an abortion, but my understanding of endometriosis is that it isn't caused by the abortion, but aggrivated by the procedure. I never had pain from my endo until I had a surgical procedure done, and since then I have not had one day without pain. I had all the other symptoms of endo, just no pain. When I had my surgery(lap), I was diagnosed with stage 4 endo, so we know that it had been growing for a long time. I just didn't have any pain until the nerves down there were "woken up," according to my doctor. So perhaps this is what happened to you? But there are a lot of other causes of pelvic pain, including PID(pelvic inflamatory disease) that need to be ruled out before endometriosis is considered as the only culprit. I wish you luck in finding out the cause of your pain and a good treatment for it! God Bless, Jules

I did not have a D&C (I had the an EMT (tablets) but I do believe this is the cause of my suspected Endometriosis. I am keeping a pain diary and am thinking of approaching my doctor about this. Have you come across anything to do with the connection of abotions and Endometriosis that applies to EMT?
