Hello, I know it can be nerve-racking waiting to have the laparoscopy done. Surgery is never without possible side effects or complications. Having said that, however, it is a relatively routine procedure now, if done by a trained physician, which yours is. It will provide relief. I have had two. It is different with each patient as to how long before the symptoms reappear. Endo does come back--sometimes in months, sometimes years. There are hormonal treatments used to keep the endo from returning as rapidly after surgery, according to most doctors. As far as the pain, one could be in a lot of pain with little endo or in relatively less pain with a lot of endo present. It is a strange thing. So don't judge your endo by the pain entirely. The bloating does come with endo, as well as urinary problems in some. That should ease after the lap. I think the worst part of endo is the fatigue and general struggle to get through the week. Sometimes I only have one good week a month. Fibromyalgia and endo have been linked by some people. They think it has to do with the auto immune system. It does appear to happen together in a lot of women. I had a really bad spell with joint pain this summer. My doctor had me start an additional thyroid medication (I was already on Synthroid), Cytomel. I am feeling better after a couple of months now. It may be that thyroid function is connected to fibromyalgia also. I hope your lap goes well and you find some relief. Let us know how you are.
