Re: ? about Lap?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Nov 15 17:20:34 2003
Valerie, You need to speak directly to your surgeon before your lap to find out exactly what he will be doing - and nothing less. DO NOT let them go in and leave it there. They did that with me and it was horrible after the fact. My obgyn said I had minimal endo and when I had a lap 6 months later with a top surgeon in the countr..I had stage iv endo with multiple endometriomas and cysts, adhesions, cul-de-sac, etc (its on video). You tell them you want it ALL out..make them sign something if you don't believe them and get the pictures. Also, inquire about removal from cul-de-sac and if they tape the procedure. There are only so many in the country who can do this (cul-de-sac) and if you have rectal issues this may be why. A lap is surgery and you need to have them make the most of it while they are inside. If you are not confident with their answers seek second and third opinions and reschedule your lap if need be. Good Luck!
