I am so sorry you've been through all of this. It seems like your
doctors perhaps have been incompetant, but that is no reason to believe
you cannot find a good one. Your last doc MUST give you your records!
Just march over there and ask for them, or call and demand they be
mailed to you - you may have to fax them a signed request form, but I
can't see why else they'd not send them off directly. That is your
property and you have a right to it. <a

permitting, maybe you can get some Dr. recommendations from the women
on this board.
I agree with D.N. -- I am sure that they are being extra cautious
because of your family history -- and this is a good sign that they are
ruling out other causes with a test that does not seem too detrimental
to your health (just a blood test, right? Stressful, but not a big deal
physically like some other procedures). If it comes out positive, you
will go from there, deciding what to do next based on the new info, but
if it comes out negative, think of how much better you'll feel!
I just wanted to let you know I fully understand about the whole
explaining to sexual partners about your condition. I have a boyfriend
now, but I am not the marrying type so this is something I have, and
will have to deal with, just like you do now. I've been in pretty good
shape lately, but there are periods when I can't have intercourse
without pain and that is obviously not good. When it comes down to it
though, if someone is so ignorant so as not to understand you have a
(fully noncontagious) health problem after you explain it to them, and
so close minded and uncreative as to not figure out a way for you guys
to "have fun" together anyway, who the hell want to sleep with them
anyway? ;)
