I did not feel that the procedure worked for me as far as pain management and did have an epidural during the delivery prior to an eventual C-section. But it depends on your pain level before labor even starts. Mine was so bad that I could not have a pelvic exam without being numbed first so before labor started I knew that an epeidural would be the first thing done once I checked in.
