Intestinal pain and periodsFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Nov 5 12:38:21 2003
Hi, I have some symptoms and I'm wondering if any of you ladies have experienced these. I am having a lap done on Nov 27 for suspected endo but I have some unusual symptoms that my dr. doesn't seem to want to comment on. Here goes... All month, I feel fine. Occassionally, I have some very slight spotting around ovulation. Once I ovulate, I am generally quite gassy until I get my period. This has been going on for a few years and I never really paid attention to it until the last year or so. Oh, by the way, I don't suffer from constipation or the runs...very regular but I do pee a lot...always have. In the last 8 months to a year, I've been noticing increasing pain in stomach area with my period. I start to feel sensitive on about day 2 of my period (usually my heaviest day) and by nightfall I'm pretty uncomfortable with my stomach and what I think is my intestines feeling extremely bloated. When I try to lie down and sleep, without fail, every month, around midnight or 1am, my stomach/intestines start spasming and it feels like someone is jamming a knife into my guts. My uterus is mildly crampy but these other pains are definitely focused above the waistline. I have also noticed sharp pains in my left side just around or slightly below the waist. This excruciating pain lasts for anywhere from 1-6 hours (always overnight) and for several days afterwards, my insides are very tender (I feel as though I've been beaten up). I notice that I pass some gas in the days following, my stools are normal but sometimes during the height of the pain, I have increased need to urinate and it can be really painful in the bladder area. I also notice that in the days following, after I eat anything, I get some pains in my stomach that are very sharp! So, my question to ladies is.....does this sound similar to anything any of you have experienced? Thanks and sorry for the long post.....
