Re: Lower Bowel Pain

I have had this problem for years, even before I was diagnosed with endo and just thought it was part of the "monthly fun". I now know that it is due to my endo. I personally have endo on my bowel, but since that is such a touchy area to work on, nothing has ever been done about it. My first lap showed that my bowel was stuck to the back of my uterus from scar tissue. First surgeon freed it up as best he could. Second lap, second surgeon: Found endo adhesions on my bowel but did not remove anything. So, long story short is I still have horrible pain while on my period if I have to have a bowel movement. Always have diarrhea on my period too. I don't really notice the pain when not on my period though I do feel some pain sometimes while in a sitting position. From what I gather, this is pretty common with endo, so you girls are not alone! I can honestly say that I dread having a BM on my period, and like you guys, grit my teeth and clinch my fists until it is over.

Because I am looking at a possible hysto next year, my Doc is wanting me to see a gastro doctor about this rectal pain. Wants to be sure nothing else is going on that would cause my pain before we go taking everything out. I go to the gastric Doc in December and will let you guys know what he says. I am confident the pain is due from the endo, but have a lot of respect for my gynecologist being concerned enough about it to recommend a specialist. All I can say is hang in there and maybe find some comfort in knowing you are not crazy and you are definitely not alone!
