Re: What is wrong with me???From: Chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Oct 29 16:27:43 2003
Hi Kris, Two years ago I had two fibroids removed. Before that my symptoms were the same as yours, all of the sudden my periods started getting heavier and heavier. I ignored it and eventually they were lasting for three weeks out of the month. I also passed the blood clots, like you. They didn't even see them on the sonogram or anything. Finally, they saw I had a cyst on my ovary and that's why I ended up having surgery. During that surgery is when they found that I had the fibroids and endo etc. I'm not saying you have endo, but your symptoms do sound like possibly fibroids and if you have a family history of them, it very well could be. I think they do tend to leave them alone until they get to bothersom because they could go away. The good news is that they don't do hysterectomies for fibroids nearly as much now as they used to (like in your mother's or your grandmother's time). Anyway, I think fibroids and cysts occur more often in women with endo, so the decision has to be left to you on whether you want to try to find out. Are the symptoms getting hard to live with. If they are I would suggest asking your doctor (or switching to a new one) and asking for a lap to find out since this is the only way to diagnose endo. To me, at least knowing what is wrong makes it easier to live with. I hope I have helped some. If you want to you can e-mail me in private. Chris
