Hi Marie,

Soy is such a controversial issue! From what I have read and been told by my endo specialist who also adheres to the macrobiotic approach, soy is a safe alternative for women with endo, but to be used *in moderation*. Soy is a phytoestrogen, and from what research I have done phytoestrogens bind with estrogen cells to help remove them from the system, whereas xenoestrogens are actually the bad synthetic estrogens which can promote the growth. The website http://www.endo101.com has information on the phytoestrogens vs. xenoestrogens debate.

According to the book Endometriosis: A Guide to Healing through Nutrition by Diane Mills et al., you can use Goat's Milk in place of Bovine Dairy milk. I personally don't like the taste of goat's milk, and don't consume soy milk either. I get my calcium from the fruits, veggies and some tofu that I consume. I also take a calcium supplement.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Take care, Melissa
