Re: I THINK I COULD HAVE ENDOFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Oct 22 19:32:29 2003
Anon, The pain from endo is sometimes constant, sometimes not. Some women wdith endo don't even experience pain. IBS is only supposed to be diagnosed after ruling out all other possible causes. If you have these symptoms and your doctor refuses to listen to you, go to another doctor. You have the choice to take or leave a doctors opinion. I didn't know that when I was having pain. I called my doctor every week and had him tell me that I shouldn't be in pain. It wasn't until I bugged him enough that he finally took my pain seriously and suggested endo, which I had never even heard of at the time. He told me and my parents that he was sure I didn't have it. After the surgery he apologized over and over again because he was wrong and due to his delay in doing the lap, my damage was very extensive and he couldn't really do anything about it. You have to be proactive about your health care. Even in this day and age, most doctors dismiss complaints about pain. Don't let him get away with diagnosing you with IBS before he has ruled out all other possibilities. And if he refuses to listen, go to another doctor. But make sure to send him the results of your lap if you do infact have endo, so maybe he won't ignore another girl. Good luck to you! Jules
