I went for my yearly checkup today and asked my doctor about oblasion. I have 2 cousins that have recently had it done but live 2 hours away from me. My dr. says he does not do them and says they are very risky and can have long term effects. I wanted to maybe have it done because my periods are so heavy. After examining me he found a fibroid tumor and said he wants to do a vaginal hysterectomy. This has me a little upset but I trust him and will do what he recommends. Do you think I should have a second opinion. Of course my cousin who had this procedure said she is doing great and can't believe that my doctor doesn't do them and said what he did. He also said they are very expensive procedures. Anything you can tell me about what I should do or anything more about oblasion would be helpful. He also did some type of biopsy in the office today, plus pap smear so I don't now any of those results for a week. Jamie
