When my period is really heavy, I can go through two superplus tampons with a super pad as a backup in 1-2 hours. The heavy bleeding only last up to 8-12 hours. I usually have clots the size of an egg. Sometimes I'll have tons of small clots, rather than one large one. My period is never shorter than 5 days, and sometimes I'll have staining up until I ovulate. It always stops for about 12 hours, and then starts back up. Maybe it's time to see your Obgyn again, or just live with it, depending on the severity.
