Re: Endometriosis & CancerFrom: Denise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Sep 30 22:35:56 2003
I'm not one to disagree with a physician, but I have never heard of endometriosis turning into cancer (maybe there is such a valid viewpoint). There is an endometrial cancer. There is also adenomyosis (endometriosis in the uterine wall) which is not cancerous. If you want relief with the possibility of not having a hysterectomy, contact the doctors at http://www.centerforendo.com in Atlanta. They will review your records and make a recommendation for you. They excise the endo from the reproductive organs to the digestive organs all the way up to the duodenum with scopes so there is a shorter recovery than with abdominal surgery (a vaginal hysterectomy can leave endo behind). If they think you need a hysterectomy, they will be honest about it. I am almost 36 myself and have one good week a month as well. I feel for you. I am at a crossroads now too in deciding what to do. I hope to make my decision in the next month or so. I also have degenerating fibroids that appeared this past year, postpartum with my daughter. I wish you the best and no pain!
