Yes, you are NOT too young to have endo (my laparoscopy at age 19 found endo). And, yes, if your family has had it then you are probably predisposed to endo as well.

GYNs don't always keep up with the research on endo. An endo specialist is best, but they are hard to find. Check out http://www.centerforendo.com in Atlanta. These doctors are definite specialists and meticulous surgeons, not just "knowledgable" GYNs.

We are fortunate to find out at a young age that we have endo. My mother suffered into her late 30s before finding treatment. Research is continual for endo. Keep informed.
