Re: Experiences with IC?/ insulin resistance???From: holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Sep 28 16:06:32 2003
i have endometriosis, graves disease (auto-immune thyroid stuff), and interstitial cystitis. the last time i talked with my doc about it, he said they are all probably auto-immune. :( to make sure it's IC, you need to get a cystoscopy done. they should do it under general anesthesia. i had one done during my last laparoscopy. my gyn referred me to a urologist. she gave me some meds to take and told me to change my diet. i didn't do a very good job getting all the pills down (there were about 8 or 9 a day at different times during the day), but i did follow the diet really strictly. and it helped. now i'm off all the meds and only follow the diet. i feel pretty darn good too. you can find info about IC and find the diet changes at http://www.ichelp.com that's the website my urologist sent me to. also http://www.ic-network.com has an online cookbook that uses only "safe" foods. sometimes i slip and eat something i shouldn't and my bladder tells me in a few hours. hth
