Nicky: I STRONGLY second what Lea suggests. You need to let your doc know what this jerk said to you. And his IS a callous jerk. I work in health care. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, worse than taking away a patient's hope. If your physician agrees with what this guy told you, find a new doc. I was diagnosed with Stage IV bladder endo that was completely encasing my bladder in February. I was told by my long time GYN, that I completely trusted, that there was *nothing* to be done other than six months of Lupron and a total hyst and even then I probably would only seem partial pain control. I got multiple second opinions and found a new GYN. I elected to have a very extensive lap excision and am told I am endo free and am undergoing six months of Lupron therapy as a follow up. I still had pain post-operatively. After a couple months of multiple therapies, I was diagnosed with IC. After starting Elmiron therapy and contining my pain regimen, I am actually seeing a huge reduction in pain and believe in a few weeks that I WILL become PAIN FREE. There is hope for you too. If you don't find it with the doc you are currently seeing, move on. Find another. That can be incredibly hard to do. Leaving the GYN that I trusted after many years was very difficult - But was one of the best decicions I made for my health. Good luck to you and don't lose hope.
