Re: New here....help regarding endo and LIFE!!!!From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Sep 24 09:37:40 2003
Erin, Sorry to hear you too are battling endo and all the life problems it brings. My sex drive is pretty non-existent too. I do take BC but I think the lack of sex drive is now more mental. Hard to get into sex or get in the mood when you know it will bring pain and/or bleeding during and after. My husband is great and always supportive, but like you he can always tell that I am not really into it and then feels bad. I haven't found anything that increases my sex drive, but since I think mine tends to be more mental, I'm not sure anything would help anyway. For the pain, I take lots of Advil or Naproxen (Aleve). I also do not want to take any strong narcotics because I don't think I could function throughout the day. As far as sex: Some things that help me are different positions (me on top helps because I have some control), taking Advil ahead of time (this requires planning sex but that is pretty much the way it is for us-plan it on a day when the pain is manageable. Definitely not very spontaneous!) and having my hubby massage me first. I find that if he gives me a massage or a good back rub, it helps to relax me and take my mind off the pain. AFter sex if the pain is bad, I eat another Advil or two and lay on the heating pad. Sucks bad!!! Hang in there and email me direct if you want to vent or talk further.
