Re: Lupron Shot-Need adviceFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Sep 23 07:51:55 2003
I took Lupron for nine months, the last three with add-back therapy of PremPro. I did 9 months as opposed to 6 to get through my wedding with no endo issues. I had a good experience with Lupron, although I know not everyone does. I had hot flashes and night sweats, and a handful of mood swings. The hot flashes and night sweats were more annoying than anything. After awhile you get used to them. They did subside quite a bit the last three months when I was on the add-back. I felt like a new person while on Lupron. No pain, energy levels returned, just in general felt much better and "normal" again. While the Lupron did keep me pain free for about another 9 monhts after I stopped the shots, I am back to severe pain again and am getting ready to go to a new doctor. My old Doc doesn't listen and just keeps telling me to have babies! For now, I am taking continuous bc per my Doc and this has helped some, but I suspect that a third lap and who knows what else is going to happen soon. I have not noticed any long term side effects from the Lupron either. Just weigh the good against the bad and decide what is best for you. I did not like the thought of forced menopause at age 30 but was desperate from some relief and finally gave the shots a try. I would do them again if it was my last resort. It was nice to have a year and a half of life back. If you ever want to talk more about it, please feel free to email me direct.
