Re: Are these symptoms of Endometriosis??

Hi Kim,
I was just browsing through and saw your post. I just had a lap done
last month, that confimed that I did in fact have endometriosis, so I
thought I would let you know how my experience was. First off, the
surgery wasn't bad at all. I had some pain from the gas but I just
layed flat for a few days and it helped a lot. It can settle in your
neck, shoulders, chest. So laying flat helps it. Actually, I layed down
anyway because you are going to be sore for a few days at least. Walking
around wasn't a problem it was getting up out of chairs that was the
worst and that even was minimal. I didn't have so many cuts like
Michelle did. They just went through my belly button. So I had some
gauze and tape over my belly for a couple of weeks. I think this is
uncommon for some, but I am overweight and had some drainage (blood and
fluid) from my belly button for a while. But I also got a staff
infection in my belly button that some meds cleared up nicely. Really
it isn't that bad. Don't let me scare you! I was scared at first too,
don't worry we all do the first time. As for the endo, he is putting me
Lupron shots for the next 9 months. It is supposed to put me in a state
of pseudo-menopause (fake menopause). I guess it is supposed to help
with the pain and I wont get a period after a while. But, I have just
had one shot so far, so I haven't had any relief yet. Looking forward
to that though! It does sound a lot like you might have it, I say that
because I have some of the same symptoms as you do and I know I have
endo. Unfortunately the only way to tell for sure is to have the lap
done. Actually for me it was kind of a relief that they found it
because for so long doctors didn't know exactly what it was. I was told
it was this that and the other thing, along with PCOS. Sorry this got
so long. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I agree this is a
great forum and you will probably get lots of advice and support here.
Good luck with everything!
