Re: Adhesions/Scar Tissue questionFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Sep 9 08:59:44 2003
I have had two laps in the past three years and am going to have another one in November. My most recent one was May 02. I have endo and adhesions and the laps keep me relatively pain free for about a year and then the pain starts building again. Some of the pain is due to the fact that I have a cluster of endo on my sciatic nerve, and some of it is due to the slow regrowth of adhesions. I have never been completely pain free, but after surgeries it is reduced so much that I don't need narcotic pain killers, an advil works fine. The only thing my doctor has told me is to enjoy the better times. You might also want to look into pain managment clinics. They help teach you how to meditate when the pain is so bad you feel like you can't take it. Almost like la-maz breathing during delivery. I have found that the pain can be lessened by mind over matter. Sometimes when I dwell on the pain, it makes it more intense. Now I am not saying the pain is in your head, but sometimes you can trick your mind into not recieveing the pain signals. Good luck and I hope you find some comfort. Amanda
