Back home from Surgery....

Some of you may or may not remember my horrific ordeal with my pain of adhesions and now that I know I had endometriosis as well. And having a STUPID OB/GYN Dr. who mentioned there was study going on about women who had been sexually assualted and they imagine the pain!!!! Well remember she did at least give me the opportunity to have a larposcopy & hysteroctomy after I practically begged her while crying in her office.

I was scheduled for a larposcopy as well as a hysteroctomy this past Friday Aug. 29th. I had the chance to speak with the surgeon as well as the team of Dr.'s that would be in there with me. They had questions for me regarding my health, previous surgeries (having adhesions removed etc.) and my thoughts on this surgery.

I told them at this time you take whatever you need to take OUT of me to give me pain relief because I'm tired of living my life this way! I KNOW God was watching out for me that day. Because the head GYN Surgeon asked me if it were in the best interest to perform a hysterectomy would I have a problem with it. I said NO not at all!!! Well she had to get approval from the hospital to chart me as being an in-patient rather then an out-patient just in case this were to happen. I would need a room etc. etc. etc.

Well the rest of the team of Dr.'s were NOT thrilled with this at all! They argued amongst one another saying "She can't do this, we have a schedule to go by." Well the head Surgeons theory on this is why on earth open her up to say Yes she has endometriosis THEN have her return to have ANOTHER operation (YES finally a Dr. that understands AND has a heart!!!)! Especially if I already had a history of adhesions in the past. I kept quiet laying there waiting to see whether she would get approval or not. Praying that she would!

She came back with the team and they agreed yes they would go ahead with this. And if they find it my only option then they will procede with a hysterectomy. But will try their best to leave the ovaries because they really dont like to take those out except in extreme cases.

Well I was one of those extreme cases...I awoke from my surgery in EXTREME pain...I was given a morphine pack, and let me tell you I used that sucker!!! I BARELY remember my children (18, 16 & 12 yrs old) being in the room with me as well as my Fiance'. Of course I had a catheter and was in and out for the most part.

The next day when I was able to talk for 15 minute interverals without falling asleep, the Dr. explained to me I had Stage IV of endomatriosis. She said I dont know how in the world you made it without more pain. She said it was so widespread they HAD to take everything out!

All I can tell you, is my experience and how I feel at this point. Its been 6 days now since surgery. Although I am still in pain from the staples on my lower belly and the stitches in my bellybutton. I have yet to have any pain like I did when I had endo!!! I thank God that this Dr. came to my rescue....I really feal like I will now have a life again at 35 years old!

I will not begin taking estrogen for about 6 months until all the endometriosis blisters have basically died off. For now I am taking Norethindrone 5mg which is a form of progesterone to help with the hot flashes.

I have now begun seeing this other Dr. that was part of my surgery team and have a follow up appt. with her in 6 weeks. Let me tell you, God is good....and he works in mysterious ways!

I continue to pray for each of you with this horrific condition. I hope that you too find a Dr. that will be there for you, and understand the pain you are going through and to give you the life you deserve.

I will continue to check back here from time to time to see how everyone is doing and post an update.

Take care everyone, Sandy
