I had my first, and only thus far, laparotomy last September. In November, my doctor put me on Lupron, which I handled for 4 months. When the last shot was through, I began on Ovcon 35 for a few months. I bled for 2 months straight on that, and she then added Premarin to the regime. That didn't help either. So she upped the Ovcon to Ovcon 50 which sky rocketed my blood pressure. Then I got pulled off meds altogether. I had a lot of side effects with the meds, though the pain was minimal. Now that I'm off the meds, I have no adverse effects, but, the pain is back, and the notion of either going on Lupron with add back is an option, or a hysterectomy at this point.
