Re: First Lupron Injection, YIKES!From: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Aug 21 22:53:06 2003
I would not recommend it. It is terrible. Basically Lupron puts you into menopause by stopping your periods. You can acheive the same thing with birth control pills. You just take the 21 day kind (no sugar pills) and you won't have a period. After my 1st lap (at 25) I was on Lupron for 6 months and then put on the continous birth control pills. I had the same results as with the Lupon but without the mood swings, hot flashes etc. You can also take the Depo shot which also stops your periods. I tried it, but it didn't have enough estrogen in it for me--but I've lost 1 ovary to endo. There are lots of options to try before turning to Lupron. I feel like I've tried it all. If you want to talk futher you can email me at angela-d@cox.net I check my mail daily.
