Rhena, My condolences for your losses and the difficulties that you have faced. So happy that heprin worked and you finally have a healthy child. I also have anticardiolipid and lupus anticoagulent. I was diagnoised with this after a stroke at age 28. Two months after my stroke, I had a severe DVT and blood clot in my leg. The clot was in my entire upper thigh. You had asked about DVT symptoms. I felt an uncomfortable pressure (not really painful) in the crease of my upper thigh for a few days. Then a few days later, my calf quickly swelled up spontaneously. (Due to the clots,my blood couldn't be pumped from my leg and it settled in my calf. )I had a hard time putting pressure on that leg when I tried to walk. I rushed to the hospital and they did an ultrasound on my entire leg and diagnoised the clots in my veins. They then immediately installed a "green field filter" to prevent loosened blood clots from reaching my heart/lungs. For a few weeks, it was agony to walk on my leg and to even stand for a minute. I have never felt such pain. I am now on coumadin daily, which has dissolved the clots and I'm doing great. If I want to get pregnant, I will have to go on herpin as well. So, heprin or coumadin is essential to prevent blood clots. I'll have to take either medication for the rest of my life to prevent another stroke or clot. Exercise and drinking water is also important. Please let me know how you are doing. Hope your doctor put you on daily medication to prevent DVT or clots. If not, then at least take one aspirin a day, since it's a blood thinner. But, I recall my doctors saying that aspirin wouldn't be effective for me since I have those 2 blood disorders, so I'm on coumadin. Get a second opinion if you're not on either herpin or coumadin!
