Re: belching, indigestion, odorFrom: Alison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Aug 9 16:11:21 2003
Jean and Rachel, I had a laparotomy, no D&C. My right ovary and falopian tube were removed along with a 500 cc sack of blood, it weighed a pound, endometriosis (I'm not sure what you call those sacks). This all started early May with the inability to start to urinate. I would have to piss like a race horse, excuse the expression, go into the bathroom, need to really bear down, and only get the result of a tinkle that would go on forever. This was definitely a change for me. I had this sense that something was inside of me on my right side. I wasn't sure what but I had pressure and just knew. I had a normal pap, so my family physician sent me for a CT scan. Scan showed a mass that was undestinguishable so was sent for a sonogram. ON the sonogram they couldn't find my right ovary but found a mass 4 cm long. I went to a obgyn specialist. He performed a vaginal sonogram??? I think it was called that.... He again could not find my ovary but found this sac that was almost double the size of my uterues. He thought it was a dermtoid cist or taratoma cist. That is when we decided to remove it. After all this was said and done, he diagnosed me with endometriosis. He believes he removed most of it but could not get to a sack that was very intwined with my intestines close to my rectum. I started Lupron shots which I can't say I'm happy about the shots. Four years ago I was diagnosed with chronic depression. Those first five days after the shot were like a flashback with some of the better days of depression. So when I spoke to my doctor the smell wasn't even what I thought about asking. I forgot about that and the indigestion. Back to my smell, it was sort of like a normal smell, musky but so intense it was over powering. Almost like that after sex smell but don't wash for 5 days and maybe have a go at it a couple more times....not that I've done that but I also would not want anyone to smell it. It was powerful enough that my fiancee could smell it during bed time without trying. I read about the carbon causing joint pain but as far as I know I had no gases used internally. I read they blow you up inside so they can see what they are doing.... I did have anestesia, I haven't looked into indigestion as a cause of general anestesia. My doctor is on vacation at the moment and since it doesn't seem life threatening to me I'm waiting til he gets back to pursue the issue with him. Thanks, Alison
