The way I understand it, endometrial hyperplasia is another unfortunate response that can happen in the presence of excess estrogen, or estrogen that is not balanced by progesterone. The endometrial glands become abnormally large and tend to stay stuck in the uterus. Some of them come out as big globby things during menstruation. See gross picture above :-(
