Paracentesis Tomorrow

From: Jean (anonymous@obgyn.net)

Tomorrow (if I pass the INR for blood clotting and the sonogram to determine if there is enough fluid in a good location to tap) I go to have paracentesis of "a moderate-to-large amount of bloody ascitic fluid in the abdomen and pelvis" which was seen on a recent CT. This may be nonspecific bloody fluid from a burst ovarian cyst, though it seems like a lot of fluid for a cyst that was at most 7 cm in diameter. Or, it may show endo and/or ovarian cancer. This should be interesting. I guess they just give a little lidocaine at the needle insertion site. Yeeep.
