Re: bowel problems....possibly associated with periodsFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Jul 30 10:32:11 2003
Kelly, I have endo but have not been diagnosed with IBS. I do experience diarreaha the entire week I am on my period and to have any kind of bowel movement while I am on my period is excrutiating. So bad that I have to grip the toilet seat, and grit my teeth to even get through it. I suspect my problems are caused by endo in my bowel area. I had my first lap in 95 and the Doc discovered my uterus and bowel fused together so he cleaned it all up. My second lap in 2000 did not show any of my organs "stuck" together this time, but the Doc did say that I have endo and adhesions in my bowel area. Since that is such a touchy area to perform surgery on, he did not attempt to remove any of it. The rest of the month when I am not on my period I have mostly regular bowel movements but always notice a dull pain in my rectal area. The pressure of sitting too long (like at work or in the car) is horrible. By the end of a work day my rectal area, and my lower back and legs kill me. I just try to live with it best I can. Hope this helps a little. I think these kinds of issues are very common with endo, regardless of IBS or not. I'm sure having IBS makes it even worse. Hugs! Please feel free to email me direct if you ever want to vent! Amy
