Re: Lupron for Stage 1?

HI,

(sorry this is a bit long...)

I have gone through Lupron treatments 2 times in my lifetime. I was dx'd with Endo in 1996 and went on 6 months after that surgery. When my period returned 9 months later, it returned with a vengence. I had my second surgery 1yr and 1mo after the first one. Obviously, it did not CURE me. As my Dr swore it would. (BTW...I got another Dr after that mess...he said it was all in my head when I told him the pain had returned.)

After the second surgery I did back to back BCPs until me and DH (I was a newlywed) were ready to try. I got pregnant within 3 months of coming off the pills. Unfortunatly I m/c (1998)...

I had my 3rd surgery in 2001, I did 6 months of Lupron and then went on clomid, didn't work, I had already started to scar. I started to see a RE in 2003 (I have also been dx'd with PCOS)...he did my 4th lap in March of this year. This time, I have done nothing to prevent the regrowth of ENdo, and on my last visit to the RE last week, I told him the pain was back already. He honestly said that he was not surprised with my history...

I don't know what stage I am with the endo, I do know that on all occasions it was in SEVERAL places. I am sure that the Dr could tell me if I ask, I just never thing to ask.

The only reason that I am telling you all of this information was because you said that the Dr said that 80% of patients have 7 or more years with relief. I know several women online who have gone this route. It did NOT give them this much relief. I would check some more statistics. It seems that Drs like to Push this Med.

My 1st round, the Dr did not supplement me correctly when I started getting depressed and I came close to trying to take my own life.

The 2nd round, the Dr knew what he was doing. I had no problems with it at all.

Check some boards and get some more advise.

And you DO NOT HAVE TO DECIDE THIS MINUTE!!!

IF your Dr is telling you it is now or never...get another dr.

If you are wanting a baby now, try now, while you are still fresh and clean. If you are not, then think about it...or ask about back to back BCPs. I found this was a lot easier to bounce back from emotionally and physically (with periods coming back).

Sorry that I went on so long... I just feel like women should be informed of EVERYTHING this medicine can do to you.

Take care and good luck! Kristie
