Re: Anyone take PAXIL......From: Darla (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jul 26 19:47:26 2003
Here is my experience... I have endo with cyst on one ovary. I also have uterine fibroids. Last summer I had a miscarriage after 3 months. I decided to get on birth control. In addition to my medical problems, my job was getting outrageously stressful. I found myself spending all my weekends crying at the slightest provocation. I spoke to my doctor and we decided that I should start taking Paxil. It was not a magic bullet right away but the longer I am on it, the more I like it. (It has to build up in your system.) I have been taking 12.5mg every night for the past 5 months and I have never been such a even-tempered person. I am actually pleasant to be around these days. (However, I did run out of pills on vacation recently and went 3 days without. I over-reacted in a work situation when I got back and started crying in the office. I refilled my prescription right away.) Here's what I've heard and it might be helpful to you. I heard that you should never stop an anti-depressant abruptly. You should wean yourself off slowly with your doctor's supervision. I heard about this one guy who quit taking Paxil (he was taking other drugs too) and he went into convulsions. I just think it is wise to be very careful when taking anti-depressants. Hope this helps.
