Not a guinea pigFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Jun 29 12:18:58 2003
Hi, I have a big problem. I had a gyn who believed that it was likely that I do have endometriosis. However, I moved out of the area and since have consulted with a new gyn. The problem is that this doctor criticizes and bashes everything that my original doctor has done. My first Dr. put me on Lupron Depot shots in order to see if they would help control my symptons and the pain. This Dr. claims that I'm too young to be on Lupron and the treatment is too aggressive. She also insists that I am too young to have endo, yet after her examination, the first words out of her mouth were, let's do a laparoscopy. I said no and she kept on insisting, going as far as to bring in the surgeon to convince me. In the end, we decided to try birth control pills [my last Dr. wanted to as well but my migraines were an issue] however, I've been on them for almost a month and every day I am in pain. I can't take motrin because of a possible interaction with the brand of pill I am on, Yasmin. Anyway, I guess my question is, should I allow the laparoscopy even though the Dr. says she might not find anything? Shouldn't she rule out other possible causes first? I am on many meds., and as a result I do not heal quickly. Also, when she examines me, she brings a student into the room without asking. Can I tell her that I do not want a student in the room. I am not a science project and it makes me feel even more nervous and uncomfortable with other people in the room. Please help.
