Re: I think I may have endo

Danielle, you could very well have endometriosis, and even adenomyosis (which is endometriosis that develops in the walls of the uterus.) Usually with adenomyosis the uterus is enlarged. Did a doctor tell you that you could have any one of those things? You should find a doctor who specializes in the treatment of endo. Are you on a birth control pill? If so, which one? To be diagnosed with endo or adenomyosis, you will have to have a laparoscopy (surgery through two to three very small incisions in your abdomen). Not only will they diagnose you, but they will remove any cysts or adhesions they find, which will offer you some relief, especially from the painful sex part. Some doctors try to treat you with low estrogen birth control pills or with more severe treatments like Lupron before being diagnosed, but be forewarned, it's not a good idea because they won't get rid of anything as well as surgery will. Treatment should be kept for after diagnosis as you could have something other than endo, etc., and may require other treatments. The idea of surgery will probably scare you, but it's really not that bad. I've had two surgeries for endo, and other women have had more, but they do help relieve symptoms. Good luck to you, and welcome to the forum. :)
