Cathy,

Yes, the difference between scar tissue and endo can be distinguished, but again it depends on the location. Unfortunately endo can also hide within scar tissue which might explain why your drs can't see it. Endo is notorious for causing alot of scar tissue all on its own.

As for your OB/GYN I would let him/her know that you want to know why they won't give it a specific diagnosis b/c you need to know what's wrong so that you can know how to treat it.
