Re: trying to find alternative therapies

I have tried some alternative therapies with limited success. However, i am really glad that I tried them and they have complemented the Western medicine I'm involved with in a positive way. Acunpunture and going to a Naturopathic Herbalist did not help me, but have helped others. I am soon going to ask my doctor for more info about Natural Progesterone Cream, which has worked for many people on this site. I have also learned about Reiki and the energetic side of things, chakras, etc.

On the one hand I feel so much better about alternative medicine and see so much damage that Western Medicine has done. On the other hand, some kinds of alternative medicine, if interpreted wrong, can make patients feel guity. For instance, if I decide to believe that it's my fault that a second chakra energy blockage indicating problems with my sexuality or femininity has created endo, that can be a really negative conclusion (or empowering if it leads you to a realization, I guess). A New Age lady once told me that if I do not give up all meat and dairy products in my early twenties I could have to have a hystorectomy in my 30s. While diet changes help for some people, her tone really offended me.

I was very reluctant to getting my original diagnostic laparoscopy, and part of that was thinking that if i could just get the spiritual low-stress vegetarian New Age gig down well enough, my symptoms would disappear. In the end, my lap helped my pain a lot more than yoga. So, sorry to go on and on, but I encourage proceeding into Alternative Medicine with an open mind mixed with some healthy skepticism. Good luck to you!
