Re: trying to find alternative therapiesFrom: Elfstone (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jun 24 18:29:22 2003
Hysterectomy should be your last resort. It is serious surgery and will come with its own set of problems. Not only that but IT IS NOT A CURE FOR ENDO! Yes, for some women it seems to help long term but for others the endo comes right back, especially if you start hrt. There are specialists who do excision surgery and this is the best surgical treatment. The best alternative treatment is progesterone therapy. I have used progesterone cream for the last 9 years and have kept my severe endo controlled the entire time. Massage therapy with a specially trained practitioner is also a really good alternative for adhesion treatment (personal experience on this as well). Many women have success treating pain with acupuncture but that requires continuing treatment. Some women are also experiencing relief using the herbal product Vitex to help balance their hormones. For more info on progesterone see http://www.natural-progesterone-advisory-network.com and any of Dr. John Lee's books http://www.johnleemd.com. Best of luck!
