Long term BCPs for endo - now I'm breaking bonesFrom: Imogen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jun 24 15:02:33 2003
Dear all Some of you may remember me from WITSENDO circa 1994. I have been very lucky in that taking bcps constantly without breaks for periods has worked for me as a way of controlling my mild to moderate endometriosis. I send my sympathy to all endo sufferers who have not been so fortunate. However I have started breaking bones about a year ago (I am now 42) having never broken a bone in my body even as a child. My GP, whom I have absolute respect for and who was superb in helping me originally get a diagnosis, says that it's not osteoporosis because I'd be breaking bigger bones such as hip sockets if it was. Would just like to know if anyone else has been on a similar therapy and had similar problems. Latest break is a scaphoid in the wrist from what I consider to have been a very mild kick from a horse. I have also had a very bad spiral break to a finger, the odd rib and one suspected undisplaced pelvis fracture, all horse related, all within 18 months. Of course the other solution would be to get rid of the horses... but nothing's new there... All the best Imogen
