Re: so tired of HORMONES--seeking alternative treatments for endo

Try doing a search on this forum for +endo+diet -- over the years, many have posted what was helpful for them. Personally, I, like you, found that the birth control pills actually exacerbated my endo.

Many of us also have a problem with what may be interstitial cystitis -- a condition which also causes pain -- this condition can be controlled in part by avoiding acidic foods/beverages -- this info can be found by doing a google/yahoo search on interstitial cystitis.

I found that dairy (includes eggs), phytoestrogens, excess caffeine, chocolate, high-fat items, etc., all *greatly* contributed to my pain. Try an elimination diet to see what works for you -- but the above items commonly cause pain in those with endo. Many also claim that meat bothers them -- I don't eat meat, so I don't know whether it would have caused pain for me (I eat fish instead).

As for vitamins, I've heard that some feel they are helped by taking a vitamin B supplements (its a multi-B vitamin - B12, B6, etc.).
