Re: danger of ultrasound with endoFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jun 7 23:14:36 2003
Anon #2, The ultrasound that anon #1 was talking about was a transabdominal ultrasound, what you had was a transvaginal ultrasound. Transabdominal requires having the bladder to be full so that they can run the transdeucer across the geled abdominal area. This kind of sono is best for kidney and bladder issues but for gyn issues such as cysts the transvaginal is much better and clearer. Anon #1, if your own dr doesn't want to take this seriously I would recommend consulting a urologist or a urogyn. Also, what I did was when my bladder got a little too full even though I had finished drinking the 32 oz of water an hour before I got there to have the scan is go to the bathroom a little bit in order to relieve some of that pressure then just drink a tiny sip of water to keep my bladder full but not too full so that I hurt. I had to do this several times before I had the sono of the transabdominal kind. And thankfully when I had the sono done it didn't hurt too too bad, but the biggest reason for why that was the case is b/c I had taken my pain pill before I went in as well. I'm so sorry that you went thru all that. I hope it gets better soon. ===== Kristy :) http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html For women who are interested in additional support http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Endo_Vulvodynia_PCOS/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zoladexforendometriosis/ I am a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences.
