danger of ultrasound with endoFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jun 7 21:48:04 2003
just wanted to let everyone know if this has happened to them. i went in for an ultrasound to see if there was anything else going on besides endo. they have you drink 38 oz. of water one hour before, but then the lab was late in doing the ultrasound. my bladder was in such pain from holding it for over 2 hours that i couldn't stand it!! my kidneys were hurting too. i finally told them to get the ultrasound or find me a bath room. the nurse took forever, and after i went pee, it still hurt terribly! she said it was no big deal. the next day it was still hurting, and had worsened. i thought i had an infection from holding it for so long. so i was prescribed cipro for the infection. 5 days later the pain was unbearable so i went to the ER. they checked for any large tears in my bladder, didn't find any and concluded that because of extending my bladder that much for that long, it riped the endo along side of it and maybe part of the bladder tissue. i am in so much pain, i can't do anything. laying down or sitting even hurt. i'm also running to the bathroom every 5 min. but not much comes out. they gave me a med for pain, but it has caffine in it which makes my bladder hurt even more!!!! i have to try and get in monday to see my doctor, because i can't take this any more. every doc i have called, including mine, shrugs their shoulders and says oh well, there is nothing they can do. But the pain is getting worse by the hour. What do i do?? Help!!
