Re: Pain relief: who takes what and how much

I was recently prescribed Ultram after complaining about the side effects of Toradol. Ultram seems to act like a narcotic (like Vicodin) but does not have the addictive side effects of a narcotic, or other harms. And unlike Toradol, you can take it without food (no more crackers at 4 a.m.!). So far I think Ultram is too strong for my pain, since it makes me feel very foggy and stoned, but if you were on Vicodin that regularly, it might work for you. I think it is stronger than Toradol. In reference to your "magic pill" comment, I have sure never found one, but let me know if you do! I also used to be on Ponstel but that did nothing for me. Good luck -- ask your doctor lots of questions! --liss
