A Plea of Help - RE: LupronFrom: EndoVictim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Apr 24 07:22:37 2003
Hi ladies! Some of you may know that I have several websites I am working on. The Endo Victims website, the Pelvic Pain Links website, and the Lupron Facts Foundation (LFF) website. One of the ladies that has her story posted on the LFF website has sent me a plea of help regarding Lupron and RedFlagsDaily (use to be RedFlagsWeekly). The LFF would greatly benefit from the information this writer can find and share. Plus, he will share information every week from other areas, and will take requests. Please read the following and help if you can! We could all benefit from this...and so could the young woman first being told about Lupron, and the mother of children, that thinks Lupron is a cure-all, and the young child given this drug at age 9 b/c puberty came early, the woman TTC about to take this drug. This will help everyone! Thanks! ~Susan Here is the e-mail that was sent to me: Dear Friends, Family and Lupron Survivors, First, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years!! This letter is going out to HUNDREDS on my email list. This includes Lupron victims/survivors and my family and personal friends. I need help with this one from everyone! If this truly does not interest you please ignore and except my apology for interrupting you. If you are one of my Lupron sisters/brothers and you no longer wish to receive information from me please let me know. If you DO want information there is no need to respond unless you have questions. I will be sending you another letter very shortly with Lawyer updates. There is a major update which will benefit all! Also, anyone receiving this letter twice, I apologize for that also, my address book needs a little cleaning up! Again, thank you all for everything you have done, from your support to prayers to good wishes, there is a LOT of fight left in me and I will NOT stop until the truth comes out... Copied below is a letter I received from Nicholas Regush the owner of Redflagsweekly. His weekly site offers free information on current health problems and trends. He also has a subscription only Monthly newsletter which contains more in-depth investigative reporting on problems which have failed to get notice yet are all around us. Mr. Regush used to work for ABC Nightly news with Peter Jennings. Perhaps his name was already familiar to you. He left to support his own dream of writing books and doing this type of investigative journalism. Many of us who have taken Lupron, actually MOST of us who have taken Lupron fall into the exact category of journalism that like to do. We wave the "Red Flag." Mr. Regush was recently working on an investigation into Lupron. He offered the article for a fee. This is not unusual for this type of article, but for one reason or another it did not get enough response for him to finish it. BUT we seem to have struck a deal that could benefit all even more... But I am going to need a LOT of help to achieve my side of this bargain!!!!!!! Please read the letter below. Understand that one of my goals is to destroy TAP by spreading the truth world wide through the Media. The Media has not been lining up. We have a handful who have taken interest and this is one them. MR. Regush is guaranteeing 12 articles on Lupron. This will reach ALL of his subscribers, including those at ABC....But I have to hit the numbers.... Your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!! Thank you! Kim Hello Kimberly: I've given thought to your letter of April 16 and I'm willing to try something that might work well for people who have concerns about Lupron. First some background. As I mentioned, I've been running Redflagsdaily.com (formerly redflagsweekly.com) for almost 17 months. For almost all of that time, the site has been totally free of charge. I started it as a potential vehicle for better all-round health journalism, with a view of taking on big issues. The financial cost to me of doing this has been enormous, but I brought RFD (with help from several colleagues) to the point where it can increasingly become a viable entity on the Internet and have impact. The site now draws people from more than 65 countries. When I left ABC News - World News Tonight With Peter Jennings 17 months ago, my plan was to continue to work on books (which I am) and to build a website that would take on issues that the mainstream media neglect or completely ignore. So far, the dream to accomplish this remains alive. To a certain extent, I've taken crucial time away from book writing to accomplish my Internet goal. So be it. In January, the site offered a membership plan which is very low cost (so far only $12.77 for one year) for an extensive information package sent to members via E-Newsletter. This is now the principle way that RFD supports itself, along with selling RFD reports (there are now three). I think that this price is an absolute steal, given the vast array of information that people regularly receive. Unlike most other health sites, we do not accept advertising and we do not sell health products such as juicers or supplements. I have wanted RFD to make it on the basis of the publication and distribution of quality health information, trust and integrity. RFD, while growing as a site, is still a very small operation, consisting mainly of myself and several other people who do work either on a voluntary or part-time basis. Of course, we have numerous first-rate feature contributors and columnists. Almost everything that is made from our membership program is dumped back into RFD. Therefore, everything that is done to help keep the site financially afloat and also to blaze some trails (and we have blazed many over the past 17 months) must be very carefully chosen. We cannot afford to make too many mistakes As you know, I did some very preliminary writing on Lupron. It was merely a small taste of what a strong journalistic foray into this territory requires. A number of articles were posted on the site and over time drew many readers. Some of these articles are now outdated. I also received many letters from people who believe they have been harmed by Lupron but due to the trials and tribulations of keeping RFD going, I had to put writing on Lupron on the backburner, although I continued to do research on the drug, its marketing and its off-label uses. Then came the idea of offering a report on Lupron. It would have been RFD Report #4 and priced as the others are at $15. The others range in words from about 4500 to 10,000. But, as I mentioned in my previous E-mail to you, there was almost no response. Its been my experience over the past 17 months that the biggest response one gets to an informational product is at the very beginning. If, say, a report does not do well in the first five or six days after a fair amount of promotion, it is unlikely that it will do well over the long term. I'm sure there are exceptions to this pattern but I haven't seen any. This is why I quickly withdrew the Lupron report and decided to switch my attention to other projects that might have a better chance of supporting the overall goals of RFD. The few people who did respond to the $10 pre-order promotion were issued refunds or, if they sent checks, their checks were not cashed. Since I nixed the report, I've heard from several people who have urged me to go ahead with the report. Your email asked me to think about what it might take to get things going again and you indicated your willingness to try to get the message out if I found a way to go ahead and write more about Lupron. You say there are thousands of people who are interested in this issue. As promised in my previous email, I've given it some thought and heres what might be tried: If 500 people with a special interest in Lupron sign up for an RFD membership, costing $12.77, I would include in the RFD membership a regular monthly Lupron E-bulletin, laying out investigative findings. This would be a strong journalistic effort, based on documents and interviews and would be for Members Only. The advantage of doing this for subscribers is that there would be a steady stream of new information provided by each of the bulletins. I would prefer to do this in this manner because new subscribers, in buying a $12.77 membership, would be supporting the overall goals of RFD. They would receive much more than the 12 Lupron bulletins over the year. And, of course, many of the issues that RFD explores daily will be of considerable interest to those with an interest in Lupron. Also, members not specifically drawn to the site because of Lupron would also benefit because in the Lupron story there is much to be unmasked about the way Big Pharma conducts business and the way the FDA and other health agencies continue to support doubtful and potentially harmful products. Not to mention how the medical community has contributed to health nightmares. Our plan at RFD is to build up the membership package over the next year and attract new members at a much higher price because we get the sense that people are now more willing to pay for strong information packages info they cannot easily get anywhere else. We also feel that we can enhance our chances of building up the site if we opt for a high-level type of membership, offering much more to our members. Having at least 500 (and hopefully more) members who are also interested in Lupron would make a regular bulletin on the drug a justifiable addition to the overall membership package. I would, of course, write the Lupron bulletins based on my own investigations. The absolute minimum number of signups to make this fly would have to be 350 before May1. I'm assuming, as mentioned above, that if people really want to do this; and since it is at such a low price not only for 12 monthly bulletins for Lupron but also a large information package for an entire year; they will sign up quickly or chances are they won't at all. Also, as of May 1, the price of a RFD membership will go up considerably, to at least $30, and possibly even $40 for a year. If you think that the approach I have outlined makes any sense to you and you think it may fly and you are willing to do some leg work, as indicated in your email, then please let me know ASAP. There would be only 10 days for people to sign up at the $12.77 membership price. If we go ahead with this, anyone using a credit card to buy the RFD membership, should also write in the word "LUPRON" in the instruction box on the credit card form and that way we'll know whether the new member is particularly interested in Lupron. If this works, the first Lupron bulletin would be sent out via-E-newsletter during the first week of May. Also, it is important to keep in mind that many alternative news organizations (MOTHER JONES MAGAZINE, for example) asks its readers to help finance investigative funds. This is one way to ensure that alternative reporting gets done since there is no huge corporation selling pharmaceuticals or drug advertising to finance enterprise reporting. The URL for redflagsdaily.com is:http://www.redflagsdaily.com And the membership page is at: http://www.redflagsweekly.com/membership.html If you want to pursue this, you have my permission to include this email to you as part of anything you try to do to spread the word. This will have to be a major Internet, word-of-mouth effort. Best wishes, Nicholas Regush
