To put things back in perspective -- he is a "leading physician when it comes to peds GYN" because there are NOT MANY DOCTORS in that field to begin with. So yes, from the perspective that he is one of the few peds Gyns out there, he's one of the leading ones. That doesn't say much. He is NOT so much of a "specialist" in Endo that he doesn't use Lupron or other GnRHs (which real specialists will not use except in the most dire of cases), even in his patients under 18 (for whom GnRH agonists were NEVER approved or intended); he thinks use of Lupron and other GnRHs in those patients who have NOT been surgically diagnosed is "acceptable," he still thinks continuous birth control pills are safe and has patients on them "for many years," despite recent warnings of elevated cancer risks and other dangers of hormone therapy; he thinks that estrogen/progesterone pills are one of the most effective treatments for Endo, despite evidence to the contrary from leading experts on the disease; he does not practice excision, which has been proven over and over again to be far superior to standard ablation of the implants; and he also thinks hysterectomy is a good therapy for those patients who do not wish to have children (despite the fact that any Endo left behind at the time of hyst. will persist with painful symptoms). Let's not give so much credit to him where none is due, simply because he is one of the few that treats pediatric and adolescent Endo.
