Adhesions

From: anonymous@obgyn.net

Definition

Fibrous bands of scar like tissue that form between two surfaces inside the body. This scar like tissue bonds to both other tissue and/or organs (which is why with endo you have examples of adhesions attaching to the bowell, ovaries etc possibly leading to patial or complete bowell obstruction, infertility and/or reproduction issues

Possible Causes

Pelvic Inflammation, Abdominal Surrgery (therefore the more surgery the higher the chance of increased adhesions), trauma, attacks of appendicitis (which is possibly why with endo it is often suggest to remove append when attacks start to occur)
