From India- is there anyone else?From: Judith (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Mar 31 01:32:41 2003
Hi, I am writing from Delhi, India. I was diagnosed with endo a year back ( at the age of 24) and underwent laproscopy for removal of a chocolate cyst in my left ovary. At that time, i had never heard of this disease and believed this would be the last lap. However, the cyst has returned and I will, in all probability, need surgery. After my surgery last year, I was on Depot Provera...didn't suffer any major side effects. However, now that i am on Zoladex I experience bouts of depression which i find extremely difficult to fight off. I have realised that reading all your messages on the forum has really helped me. I feel as if I am not alone and that there are people who will understand. I have also realised that talking about my condition helps too.... In India, I have not come across any endometriosis association - and assume this disease is not well researched here. I know there are some doctors who cannot even explain the disease (because they are not comfortable) and its repercussions. I have been told time and again that I need to get married and have children. If that were so easy I would not be single right now. I have got most of my information from this site ( was introduced to this site by my radiologist) and hope to get in touch with Indians who suffer from this disease and also with someone who has a similar case history. If there is anyone on this forum, please do write to me on my personal ID. Feelings of depression, confusion and hopelessness have been with me for the past few days. I think it had to do with the fact that until last month I had done no research on endo and was under the impression that it would not pose a problem. I know better now. Though i do not suffer from severe pain (I have been diagnosed with severe endo), endo has managed to change my life in many ways. Knowing what i have been through, I would like to generate awareness of this disease in my country and am looking for advice on how to do so. I have already started from home...with relatives and friends. I am also looking for alternative medicine and have started on homeopathy( since last week) .... this seems to have relieved the pain. However, it is early days yet. Still, I am willing to try and there is hope. I am glad that there is a place where i can air my thoughts and benefit from discussions that take place. Thank you for listening to me.
