Do NSAIDs inhibit ovulation?From: Kara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Mar 27 14:52:02 2003
Hi all, I have a rare form of endometriosis: I have lesions on my sciatic nerve. I get terrible leg pain every month. I have had laparascopic surgery to remove the worst of the lesions. Histology confirmed that they were endometriosis. Unfortunately, I still get a bad case of leg pain / sciatica every cycle. Fortunately, my ovaries are clear of lesions. Anyhow, I am now trying to get pregnant. I have to take painkillers for my leg pain and until now, I have always taken NSAIDs (diclofenac, aspirin and acetominophen). I take about 3 pills a day for 8 days. Does anyone know if NSAIDs inhibit or interfere with ovulation? I thought that since prostaglandins are required for the ovulation process, that the NSAIDs, which block prostaglandins, might affect my fertility. I have recently started to track my ovulation with BBT etc. but do not have enough data yet. I wondered if anyone else has tried to conceive while taking massive amounts of NSAIDs and how that worked out. Thanks everyone! Kara
